Seagrass Scholars is a nonprofit dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation of marine conservationists. Through hands-on programs, eco-tours, and community engagement, we empower students and volunteers to protect Florida’s seagrass habitats—essential ecosystems that support marine life, improve water quality, and combat climate change. As we move toward 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, we are seeking passionate and strategic board members to help guide our growth and sustainability.
We welcome individuals with expertise in marine conservation, education, nonprofit leadership, fundraising, finance, legal compliance, or marketing. Board members provide leadership, oversight, and advocacy, helping to secure funding, expand partnerships, and ensure effective governance. The role requires a quarterly meeting commitment, occasional advisory support, and active participation in fundraising efforts. Prior board experience is a plus but not required—we value dedication and a shared commitment to our mission.
Time Commitment
Approximately 4-6 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and occasional strategic planning sessions.
Term Length
Initial two-year term, renewable based on commitment and impact.
Fundraising Participation
Board members are expected to actively support fundraising efforts, through personal contributions, donor engagement, or sponsorship development.
Passion for Marine Conservation
A strong belief in environmental education and protecting Florida’s coastal ecosystems.
